Investing in a child builds a community

Investment in a child’s early years pays dividends for the future of our communities and our province. Economic research shows that for every dollar invested in quality child care, at least two dollars are saved in later social costs. For children in high risk situations, this pay back can be as high as seven to one.

Helping children from all walks of life.

  • There are over 250,000 children under the age of six living in BC today. Research shows that up to 25% of BC’s children aren’t ready to succeed in school by age six.
  • There is a growing need for:
    • Programs, such as quality childcare, to help parents who are balancing work and family responsibilities
    • Culturally relevant programs for Aboriginal children and children whose first language is not English
    • Improved access, including outreach services to isolated families and to children with special needs

Success By 6® programs help parents develop skills they need to provide the nurturing, stimulation and nutrition that are essential for their children to reach their potential. Early childhood development benefits an entire community, not just one segment of the population.
