Supporting Children & Families in the West Kootenay

Stars for Success is a program that provides funding for families in the West Kootenay that need help to enroll their children (up to their 6th birthday) in recreation, art, sport and early learning programs.  Learn more here.

West Kootenay Family Magazine a local magazine published 3 times a year and available at key locations throughout the region (Doctor’s offices, schools, StrongStart, Childcare Centres, Preschools, Grocery Stores etc…).  The magazine showcases an Early Childhood Educator from the area, community stories, the work of the Early Years Coalitions, local photos and information on a variety of topics from screen time to outdoor play to Ages and Stages of Development.  

Traditional Drum Circles for young Aboriginal children and their families is a monthly activity in partnership with other Aboriginal organizations in communities throughout the region.

Metis Traditional Parenting Program - The parenting groups are made available to all parents and caregivers of Aboriginal children and their families who have an interest in learning about traditional parenting.

West Kootenay Early Years Conference - brings together professionals from the region who work with children.  This 2 day event includes a banquet with an awards ceremony recognizing exceptional Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Awards, Exceptional Family Child Care Provider and years of ECE service.
